What’s wrong with Pugs
The British Veterinary Association has started a #Breathtobreed campaign against breeding and sale-purchase of flat-faced breeds. These dogs have breathing difficulties, skin problems, eye ulcers and dental problems as a result of the bred-in looks which are supposed to make them look more appealing.
As per The President of the British Veterinary Association, vet John Fishwick
Pugs and many other flat-faced dogs have lovely temperaments, but the use of their images on cards and gifts is ‘normalising’ these breeds’ short noses and big eyes which can cause horrendous pain for the animal and prove costly for the owner to treat.
There are other problems as well. The animal’s normal sized lower jaw and very short upper jaw gives rise to a variety of health problems, including obstruction of the airways, heart disease, ulcers, skin infections, difficulty in giving birth, asthma.
This way these flat faced dogs are not only having a bad time throughout their lives. They devastate the lives of people attached to them. Especially, for the children. Therefore, With breeding of flat faced dogs stopped, there will be normal dogs around. These dogs will be able to live their lives fully. They will be a perfect human companion.
